Wedding crashers works because: - Wedding Crashers Reviews
Vaughn and Wilson pull off what without them would surely never transgress mediocrity. With their wit and charm they win you over along with most of the audience (the members who have nice tastes in humor, anyway).
I deem the idea behind this movie to be pretty- smart. I think a movie like this works because of obviously the actors and their niche in humor, but also that we can relate to guys like these: Sure, not all of us are divorced and rarely will you find people who go and crash weddings like they do (most people these days don't know the meaning of having a good time). But, how we can relate; how I related with this movie, is through the fact that they're having a hard time growing up and getting involved with long-term relationships.
Also, I felt comfortable watching the movie with the two main actors because, I know this sounds odd, but one of them is a giant and one of them has an off-kilter nose. Now I'm by far not the best looking guy but by watching these two misfits have a good time and pimp on all of the ladies, it gave me confidence and now I see that you don't need to have the best looks to win womens hearts.
The movie works. I'm impressed with how the fun yet odd idea is made very fun and not-so-odd. The actors buttress this with the way they connect to us; the way they connected to me when I watched it.
Go see it. You may not enjoy it as much as I have but the price you pay in dollars is surely worth the receival you get in laughs. Have fun friends, go out and enjoy this movie.
Terrible!!!!!! - Wedding Crashers Reviews
I would never have wasted a cent on this movie if I had known it was going to be the most sexist objectifying movie ever made! After only ten minutes of ***** I absolutely had to leave the theater. The directors honestly hired about 200 plastic cookie cutter women to run around, and filmed a movie about two men first fooling them into believing they were good guys (message: women are all shallow idiots who want a sweet, sensitive manly man), then screwing them all (message: women are pieces of meat)...wow, is this what society has come to? I am not an uptight Christian-type of person in the least, actually quite the opposite, but I have rarely been so completely appalled...the reason it makes me all the more sickened is because I hear many people running around talking up this piece of ***** excuse for a movie. The part that really got me was when the women were simply tossed on the bed topless, one after the other to some stupid soundtrack--TASTELESS!!!!!! This type of ***** makes me want to leave this superficial, discusting country.

Worst movie of the year!!! - Wedding Crashers Reviews
That movie completely sucked! It was the worst thing i've ever seen! Who thinks of stupid things like that?! i couldn't even stand the whole thing so i just ditched the movie and went to burger king to get fries... i expected it to be so funny... and it was just plain old stupid! Anybody that plans on seeing it: don't waste your money!
Don't waste your time or your money - Wedding Crashers Reviews
Just plain awful. It must have been written by a 14 year old boy for 14 year old boys. If you're over 21 and have any sense at all, run, don't walk away from this nasty abomination of a movie. There isn't one funny moment, everything is forced and silly. Awful, awful, awful.

D - for dumb humor - Wedding Crashers Reviews
I am simply let down everytime I get talked into going to an american made comedy. Who's rating these comedy movies... post pubescent boys and girls? I guess if you think bare breasted women, stupid cliches' and just plain dumb writing is funny... more power to you. I'll stick to the foreign comedies, until Hollywood can produce something more funny than this type of garbage.
Classic - Back to the Future Reviews
You just couldn't have had the 80's without this movie. It is a great movie that will continued to be enjoyed for generations to come.

What has happend to the usa - Wedding Crashers Reviews
Horrable! Why would you see a movie that?s about ruining people?s lives?! I?ts not funny! The acting was not that bad but what would you expect from Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn movie.According to the Los Angeles Times, director David Dobkin was contractually obligated by the studio to deliver a PG-13 rating for Wedding Crashers. That?s because R-rated comedies tend to crash at the box office. But an unfunny thing happened on the way to the ratings board. Test audiences for early, uncut versions of the film ranked the scenes containing the raunchiest material as their favorites. So New Line Studio decided to embrace the R rating.
Production president Toby Emmerich told Entertainment Weekly, ?There?s a way to wear an R as a badge of honor and say this is a little different, this takes things a little further. There is a positive spin to the R.?
Of course, the negative spin to the scenario is that test audiences didn?t find much to laugh at outside of the raunch. I can see why. The sometimes engaging Owen Wilson doesn?t really, struggling to keep pace with Vince Vaughn?s manic energy. The talented Christopher Walken, meant to draw laughs as the intimidating dad, is given nothing funny or threatening to do. Dr. Quinn?s Jane Seymour is just plain sad and creepy as the lushy, breast-exposing matriarch. And then there?s the unbelievable ?love story.? How foolish is Rachel McAdam?s character to stick with her acidic, unfaithful boyfriend for so long only to replace him with a confessed career liar and womanizer?
So what do you do with a lousy PG-13 comedy? Load it up with sex and nudity and f-bombs, and hype the R-rated sleaze. After all, the logic goes, if it doesn't fly at the box office, you can always make up the cash in DVD sales. As Dobkin told EW, ?You can?t make movies for the ratings system. You?ve got to make the movie that?s right for the story and let the rest fall into place.?
What falls into place is an ugly, soulless, unfunny film about a couple of guys in their mid-30s who only give up mistreating women for sex when they happen to fall for a couple of gals unbalanced or dumb enough to fall for them, too. Good times. Guys will think some is funney girls will hate it!
Why??? - Wedding Crashers Reviews
i really thought the movie is going to be good, funny and tasteful.
well...it had good potential to become a good funny movie, and since the guys were no teens anymore i expected the movie not to be a brainless teeny comedy, but unfortunately it was. i wasted 2 hours of my life on this crap. it's sad though, cause it could have been it a good comedy with some really funny parts if they only let the girls keep their cloths on. what the hell was that boob parade in the beginning of the movie for? was that supposed to be funny? wouldn't it be funny if the girls had underwear on???
and the end sucked too. who the hell would stay with a male whore like the main character? someone who is desperately seeking for deseases? this movie SUCKED!!!

The only reason I didn't like this movie is because I am to young and had 2 take my parents with me it SUCKED!!!!
Truly awful - Wedding Crashers Reviews
Come on people!!... this movie is awful! Don't waste your money! The story was all over the place, it was much too long, the editing was some of the worst I've ever seen. I felt like I had missed a scene after several of the amateurish scene edits. For instance, can someone explain where Owen Wilson's character lived.... In one scene, Vince Vaughn was trying to get Owen to talk to him. He knocked on the door of a brownstone standing on the street. Later in the movie, Vince finally 'makes up' with Owen, but at this point, it appears that Owen is living in a small studio apartment and the front door opens into a hall. hmmm...
The characters were characatures. Are we supposed to believe these people could truly exist?
The title should have been Dumb and Dumber-er-er!
Save your money - Wedding Crashers Reviews
Terrible movie. You keep waiting for it to live up to its hype of humour and story. But, it lacks both.

A sad commentary on our culture. - Wedding Crashers Reviews
My husband and I agree with all the other poor reviews of Wedding Crashers. We went into the movie in good spirits looking forward to what we had heard was a "hilarious comedy about some guys who crash wedding receptions." We laughed at some of the lines, but as the story progressed, we got progressively more disgustedand turned off by the humor. It was crude, appealing to the most base unholy instincts in all of us....I guess that's why we kept sitting there actually giving it our time which could have been spent in so many better ways. We will discourage everyone we know to not see this movie.......it had a profound (upsetting) affect on us both. It turned our upbeat positive moods completely around and we regret having sat through it.
Where's the movie? - Wedding Crashers Reviews
Sorry, but this was too long, overhyped, underwritten and a waste of the talents of Wilson, Vaughn, and even Farrell. If you like formulaic "bad boy goes good and gets girl in the end," movies, this one is for you. I expected more, my mistake.
Wedding crashers?? ...say, "i don't" - Wedding Crashers Reviews
I saw this film last night and while the premise was great for a comedy, this film falls short. It was over the top and makes it unbelievable. Anyone who has crashed a reception (talking from experience)... you don't get up in the middle of the cake cutting by the bride and groom and make a spectacle of yourself. You have to be in stealth mode or you'll be exposed. Vince Vaughn with cake falling out of his mouth was just stupid. He went too far and Owen Wilson didn't go far enough. Owen's character at the end of the movie when he has a serious moment trying to convince the girl of his dreams that he isn't a shallow punk... comes off looking like he hasn't matured at all. This film was a great idea gone wrong. Save your $$ and wait for the DVD... even then, you might want to consider real hard before you rent this goofy spoof. The language was also much worse than it could have been. Bad language doesn't typically offend me but it shows a lack of intelligence and confidence in one's writings to use it so readily. I give it a solid "D".

Purple heart line extremely disappointing! - Wedding Crashers Reviews
Talk about Hollywood's inability to stay connected with what people expect. I was ready to see this movie and then talked to a friend that said that the use of the phony Purlpe Heart Medals was really in poor taste. The joke that no one laughed at in the theaters. I'll stay away from this one so that Hollywood hears my wallet vote loud and clear. I may be only one vote, but from what I am hearing, everyone thought that was definitely using a prop to laugh at the expense of our Military Heroes coming back without their arms and legs. Boo Boo, this is a big bust as far as I am concerned.
Wow! i was not expecting that!! - Wedding Crashers Reviews
I have never seen anything that disgusted me as much as this movie. There were funny parts in it....but they really didn't get through the filth, profanity, and crudeness. I was embarrassed to even be seen in the movie. I did learn one important thing....read reviews before you see a movie!!!!
Any movie story where characters use purple hearts - Wedding Crashers Reviews
to get in bed with women is, to say the least, tacky, in my book. I love Owen Wilson, but this storyline is absolutely wretched. Then again, if this is your style of humor, you may like it. But be warned: it is pretty lame in my opinion.

You'll laugh you'll cry - go see this, funny! - Wedding Crashers Reviews
You cry because you'll be laughing so hard. Perfect comedy, really funny, everyone watching was laughing out loud - Boys and Girls alike will enjoy it. I had to cover my mouth because I thought I was laughing too loud. Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn where great, with an added treat of Christopher Walken and a small but funny part played by Will Ferrell. The two ladies playing the leads are not real well known but held their own against Vince and Owen. Some of the funniest scenes where between Vaughn and actress Isla Fisher. Rachel McAdams played a love interest to Owen was adorable and fell in love with her.
The first 1/3rd to 1/2 of the movie was so funny my side hurt from constant laughing. It slowed down a little, in the middle, giving me a chance to breath and finished with a nice ending. Just go see it. You will enjoy it.
Walked out?have we sunk so low? - Wedding Crashers Reviews
And Hollywood is scratching their heads wondering why box office sales are down?
I went to this movie yesterday with my boyfriend and we got up and left before it was through. This movie made me depressed. I was disgusted to hear so many people laughing at this crude, horribly put together movie. I was a big fan of both Wilson and Vaughn, and had gone to the movie on the mere basis of loving them both as actors. Horrible story, horrible acting, absolutely no cohesive plot. Wilson and Vaughn have both lost an unquestioning fan. I was also shocked that the entire storyline portrayed women (as well as others) as idiot pawns, manipulated by 2 idiot losers in their 30s who have nothing better to do but to go to weddings they?re not invited to. The nudity throughout was totally gratuitous. I think we would have gotten the same idea even if the poor young actresses had kept their bras on. Not necessary at all to the storyline, though I?m sure the producers and director realized that showing boobs throughout would be necessary to keep everyone?s interest. It also portrayed a completely dysfunctional family who had so-called ?hilarious? mishaps around the ostracization of their homosexual son, witty jokes on infidelity in marriage, and the raging alcoholism of almost everyone involved. This is funny to us as Americans? Frankly, I think it?s sad. I can?t believe that this is what we pay for this as entertainment. Entertainment should be about fantasy, about escaping our everyday lives, but I would never want to escape to the dysfunctional world portrayed in movies such as ?Wedding Crashers.? The even sadder thing is that, from reading others? reviews, I see that some people think this movie is great, and Hollywood will probably keep making more baseless, shallow movies. Bring on the boobs, superheroes, and hi-tech spy movies?I think I?ll go rent some old classics.
Stupid. stupid characters. crude sexual humor bad - Wedding Crashers Reviews
I'm a fan of dumb-funny movies such as "There's Something About Mary" and even the recent "Dodgeball". But this movie was just stupid and poorly done. The concept is sound and could have been excellent. But the direction was very poor. The sexual material was not done with taste, partly because the characters portrayed in the movie are just pathetic to be acting that way in their late 30s. The crude sexual humor in "American Pie" works because the characters are adolescents. For example, the jackoff scene at the dinner table was dumb and unnecessary.
I usually like Owen Wilson's acting, but he didn't do well in this movie. Vince Vaughn was a bit better.
It had a few laughs and some moments, but frankly I was disappointed.

Laughed the entire time - Wedding Crashers Reviews
I didn't think that this movie was going to be very funny. I'm not a big fan of Owen Wilson, and just thought this movie would attempt to pull out laughs like so many other "funny" movies that didn't end up funny. Needless to say, this movie had me laughing all the way through. There were a couple of slow parts (5 min at the beginning, and a couple of slow sappy parts towards the end), but you will not stop laughing. Well written and great acting.
Best comedy of the year. - Wedding Crashers Reviews
Wedding Crashers follows the lives of John and Jeremy, a pair of free best buds who spend their time crashing weddings, hence the title. Life is good for them, they both have the bestest pal in the world, and every weekend they get to sleep wiht hot chicks, party, and eat free food. However all of that changes when Jeremy persuades John to crash the wedding of a state Secretary's daughter in the "kentucky derby" of weddings. But as fate should hae it, John begins to immediatly fall for the secretary's other daughter Claire, well Jeremy tries to avoid her sister, Gloria.
The first half of Wedding Crashers is a hysterical and raunchy comedy, maybe even too raunchy for its own good. It starts off with an original and compelling story, but throughout the second half of Wedding Crashers it turns its premise into a formulatic story and the film turns into a sweet romantic comedy. Although both parts of the film were good, and funny, I personally enjoyed the rauncy comedy part a lot better. Also, the mix between raunchy hardcore comedy, and sweet soft romance felt a little uneven.
Overall Wedding Crashers makes for a hillarious night out at the movies. Owen Wilson, Vince Vaughn, Christopher Walken, Rachel McAdamas Isla Fisher, and Jane Seymour, played their roles perfectly, and brought about many laughs, Isla Fisher, was exceptionally great as Gloria, and Jane Seymour, was also very good as the mother who wants Owen Wilson. But out of the supporting cast Keir O'Donnell definatly stole the show as their gay brother.
Wedding Crashers is the biggest, hillarious, raunchiest, sweetest, and laugh out loud comedy of the year. It's definately one worth seeing on the big screen, and no matter who you are there is probably one thing about this movie that you will enjoy.
8.5/10
Wedding crashers will crack you up - Wedding Crashers Reviews
Wedding Crashers (2005)
Staring: Vince Vaughn, Owen Wilson
Directed by: David Dobkin
What It's About:
Two divorce lawyers have found the best way to meet and get women ? pose as the ultimate sweet fun guys at weddings and woo the bridesmaids. Things are going well until they get sucked into more with an Undersecretaries? daughters.
The Good:
Vince Vaughn turns in, easily, his best performance. All of Vince?s moments, facial expression, lines, everything, is pure gold and should be recognized as such. In a few months, all college kids will own Crashers, and be quoting lines at parties. This movie is definitely hilarious, and Wilson is just as funny, but he?s more the conflicted voice of reason in this movie, so it?s not his job to be on the ball, but rather set up Vaughn for the knockouts, which he does consistently well. Director David Dobkin learned the way to handle this new comedians ? just let them be themselves and ad lib. Crashers is easily one of the raunchiest, funniest movies audiences have been treated to in a long time.
The Bad:
There are a few flaws with the overall film, which could have been easily fixed, but sadly made it into the final cut. First off, the movie is long, and it feels it near the end. There are several sequences that are in the film to help with character development, but it almost feels out of place given the nature of the jokes. Crashers tries to flirt the line with off-the-cuff comedy and romantic comedy?and that?s really difficult. There could have been far less formulaic boy/girl falling for each other and the movie wouldn?t have suffered. Christopher Walken also, while funny, is way under-utilized.
Recommendation:
For those who really enjoy the obscene type of humor, or have enjoyed Vince Vaughn in his previous roles, you?ll love this film, and should see it. Be prepared for a somewhat slower ending, but overall, it?s a good night out.
Trivia:
This is the first time Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn have been in a movie together without Ben Stiller.

Very funny... mostly - Wedding Crashers Reviews
I was lucky enough to get a pass to a 7:30 sneak preview last night. The wife and I went together as I had read it would be a good "date" movie. That certainly wasn't true. It was most definitely a go with a group of friends movie. The story wasn't great. The acting was decent. What made this movie so good is just the plain 'ol humor. It was hilarious. Both me and the wife laughed more at this movie than any movie since "There's Something About Mary". It was really that funny. I would and have recommended this movie to my friends. I would not recommend this movie to those easily offended. There is quite a bit of cussing and some moderate nudity. Definitely a movie you shouldn't wait to rent. In fact, it's a movie I will be adding to my DVD collection. Enjoy!
Weddings....not just for women anymore! - Wedding Crashers Reviews
You will never look at "Weddings" the same way again after this film!. Finally, we seem to be getting back to 'Raw Comedy' after this Politically Correct era!. I Propose a Toast! to "Wedding Crashers"- starring 2 great guys and 2 hot ladies who made this comedy work!.
The premise is simple. Two divorce mediators, John and Jeremy, have mastered the art of seduction and all they have to do is bring their fake storys and an empty box. They get fed, boozed, and ladies from total strangers at weddings and in return....they are the life of every one they attend- why goto a bar to meet chicks?.
First, I think Vince Vaughn (Jeremy) should be made a 'Priest' in the church or Male Comedy!. While when he plays it straight quite well it's when he has to play "uncomfortable" he really sells the laughs. Guys will dig his bravado but, he might have met his match in Aussie born actress Isla Fisher (Gloria). She's his anti-thesis in this film and every cad's worst nightmare. Where Vince is the cool cat who take's his lovin' and escapes into the night like Cassanova, Fisher is a grade A praying mantis of seemingly stalkerish dependency and "clingyness".
Owen Wilson (John) is just as adept as Vaughn here but, in a passive way that sneaks up on the ladies (he can fake tears and sincerity in second- LOL). However, it's Rachel McAdams (Clair) who's on the fast track to stardom and the "belle" of this ball who steals Owen's heart and unbalences the natural order in his life. She's got the smile of Jennifer Garner, the Moxie of Kate Bosworth and the regal natural beauty of Kate Beckensale...Hell, I wanted to marry Rachel! even despite her parents played excellently by Christopher Walken and a supremely over the top Jane Seymour (Oh Yes!, you you will See-More!).
This film is almost a drunked bash in some area's and trying to be 'sensitive' in others and it's got a few quirks in the 3rd act but- it's still a unique comedy trip!. Not since the over the top antics of "Bad Santa" have I enjoyed such blunt, sex-driven, an profanity laced comedy. Forget, your 'touchy-feely' fruity "Fockers" and every dam movie Kate Hudson every did chicks!- these are Men!. You gotta be bold and bawdy sometimes...You know how loose, free, and drunkenly euphroic people that are blitzed at Wedding's act?. It's a release!...just like this film is.
Chicks will like how the Rachel and Isla play with out hero's and the men will enjoy the male humor and tips on how to appear to care...(did I say that?).
Idolsmasher
It depends on your sense of humor... - Wedding Crashers Reviews
I went into this movie expecting big laughs. It didn't cut it for me. There is way too much sex and dirty language for me to enjoy it. I can deal with a little sex and some bad language, but when the whole entire movie revolves around it, it completely turns me off. Don't get me wrong, there were people laughing out loud in the theater, to the point where they were crying. If that is your style of humor, that's fine, and you will really like it. For more conservative people like me, though, I didn't find it funny. I was more disgusted than anything else. The story is long. The acting by Vaughn and Wilson was pretty good. If they ever make a movie that didn't have to do with sex the whole time, I would most likely go and watch it. As for this movie, however, I am sorry I spent the $6.25 to see it. If you are conservative, most likely you won't enjoy it, if you're not and like a lot of sexual humor, you will like it. I however, think that The Longest Yard with Adam Sandler was a lot funnier and had a better story.
